Young talent Reggie Walsh is attracting attention at Chelsea after the excellent performance in the 1-0 victory over the Djurgarden in the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League, thereby helping the London team to win the final with a total score of 5-1.
At the age of 16, Walsh became the youngest player in the history of Chelsea played in a European tournament when playing in the second leg. Earlier, he also debuted in the first leg and became the third young player who used to wear the Blues.
Captain Rece James was surprised at the performance of his juniors. Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, James said: “I have seen him on the training ground, but playing and practicing are two different things. This is the first time I saw Walsh playing. I did not expect him to be so good.”
Coach Enzo Maresca also praised Walsh: “He is the type of player that we love, very good. Of course Walsh is young and needs to learn more. I am very happy for him and his family.”
The only goal of the match, Kernan Dewsbury-Hall, also said: “I just try to guide young players. Walsh is 16 years old but playing very mature. My job is to remind them to play football that has brought them here. You can see that through the way they play-very calm, very confident. It is the result of the training furnace.”
Chelsea will meet Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final that takes place on May 29.
