Arsene Wenger expressed his disagreement with Mikel Arteta’s statement that Arsenal is a better team in the defeat of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals 2024/2025. PSG overcame Arsenal with a total score of 3-1 after two matches (won 1-0 at Emirates and 2-1 at Parc des Princes), winning tickets to the final against Inter Milan.

Arteta asserted Arsenal was the best team in the tournament and surpassed PSG in both matches, emphasizing goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is a different factor. “I don’t think any team plays better than Arsenal in this tournament,” Arteta said.

However, Wenger, the former Arsenal coach, opposed this view on Bein Sports: “In both matches, PSG is better than Arsenal, they create more opportunities and rarely be dangerous.”

Wenger praised PSG for his resilience and the ability to take advantage of counterattack, though not superior to control. He emphasized that Arsenal continued to have problems in the end, especially when missing many early matches in Paris. “PSG is strong in spirit, especially when overcoming pressure from broken penalty,” Wenger commented. He also predicted that PSG could complete the perfect season with a double in France, with the Champions League title.

Although Arsenal started strongly, the goal of Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi helped PSG control the match, while Bukayo Saka only scored the comfort. Coach Luis Enrique acknowledged Arsenal to play well but confirmed that PSG deserves to continue thanks to the goalscoring effect.
